Welcome to Ruck On!

· Pete Peebles
This is a venture started by a father and son.  A venture started to help gather people into a community.  A venture that can help build comradery and improve health.

How it started
Years ago I decided I needed to have a metric to measure...a goal...a target...something, and my steps seemed to be an easy one.  I started taking walks and realized what great fat burning exercise it was.  10,000 steps a day was the goal, but realistically, 7000 was not bad either.  I wasn't sitting. I was moving.

I decided to make it slightly more challenging and added some dumbbells to a backpack.  One day at the gym, I was talking with a buddy who also had a backpack that seemed loaded with weights.  We struck up a conversation about rucking and decided to give it a shot together.

Great conversations were had while walking those miles, and by the end of the ruck, realizing a pretty good workout was completed too. It wasn't long until my son inquired about it and we started doing the same thing in the afternoons after school.  Long walks, with weights in our packs, talking about life's problems and solving a few along the way.
We bought special packs to ruck with, the weighted plates to carry, and were on our way.
He went off for freshman year at college and whenever he would come home, it wasn't long before he was asking about going on a ruck.  Yes it was exercise, but it was more than that.  We were doing something together.  We were creating memories and have great conversations between father and son.

How it's going
During Christmas break from college, on a ruck, my son and I decided that others need to be exposed to all the benefits we experienced together. We needed a place that people all over the world could access. We needed a place where people could come together as a community. A place that wasn't necessarily a gym, but wasn't a solo project either. That place became Ruck On.

Ruck On is where groups of people can form a community and experience the benefits my son and I did on those long walks. A place where someone might be scared to take the first steps into a gym, but they can take those steps on the road, with or without a weighted pack.
